Newham-based charity iSightCornwall launches new Walking Buddies scheme

Blind and partially sighted people are being invited to take part in guided walks, as part of a project set up by local charity.

Newham-based iSightCornwall has launched a new Walking Buddies scheme to help ease feelings of loneliness and isolation after lockdown.

Walking Buddies offers clients the chance to meet up with a volunteer, who will take them on a short, guided walk around their local area each week.

The scheme is being launched this month and will give people with sight loss the opportunity and support to get to know some local walks, enjoy the fresh air and - particularly for those who live alone - have some friendly conversation to look forward to.
