Green case studies

Newham BID has a long-term vision to make Newham Industrial Estate one of the ‘greenest’, most energy efficient industrial estates in the South-West leading the way towards achieving net zero. We have started in a small way through a community approach; we have landscaped small areas of Newham, organised regular litter picks supported by local businesses and arranged climate literacy training. Newham BID also has an environmental policy.

Some of the businesses on Newham have taken a proactive stance too by implementing measures to ‘reduce, recycle and reuse’ in their own workplaces; a selection of these have been documented – to download the case studies of 8 businesses from across Newham please click here

A list of other organisations that could support businesses on Newham has also been compiled – to find out more, click here

We are interested in finding out what other Newham businesses are currently doing to reduce their carbon footprint or what their appetite might be to do so in the future. In tough economic times, we appreciate that there may be barriers to tackling the ‘green agenda’ including cost, knowledge, time etc and want to understand if these barriers can be overcome perhaps through the support of other businesses or other sources of advice. One option is to share best practice by networking with other businesses who may be interested in meeting every quarter to share ideas and their working practices. Please give us your views by completing the survey by the end of June 2025
