Recruitment company keeping schools staffed
Thursday 18th June, 2020
A specialist recruitment agency based in Newham is playing a key role in keeping schools staffed across the region during the coronavirus pandemic.
Opus Education on Newham Road is an education recruitment specialist
with more than 300 teachers on its books. It provides temporary and permanent
teaching staff and training and consultancy services for schools in Cornwall
and Devon.
Despite the COVID-19 lockdown many schools have remained
open for vulnerable children and children of critical workers. Among its
specialisms, Opus works closely with the Wave Multi Academy Trust across
Cornwall and Devon and the Special Partnership Trust in Cornwall, both of which
support children with additional needs.
And with primary and secondary schools now reopening to some
years, Opus Education is seeing increasing demand for all its services.
Opus branch manager Sam Harrison said: “Teachers are working so hard in the current
crisis but may not be able to come into school due to shielding for health
reasons so we’ve been busy supplying temporary staff, often at short
notice.
“This is also the time of year when schools are thinking
about their permanent recruitment needs for September and interviewing
candidates, but lockdown has made the process much more difficult so that’s
another area where we’ve been able to help.”
Opus employs six people and has been operating as normal
throughout lockdown, having enabled homeworking for staff.
The business was founded in 2014 and has created its own app
where teachers can register for work, upload their CV, look for jobs and submit
timesheets. The app can be downloaded
from the App Store or Google Play store by searching “Opus Education
Recruitment”.
Opus currently has a special offer and will pay for DBS
(Disclosure and Barring Service) for any teacher that registers with them by September 2020. You can take advantage of this offer by
